CBAS brief description

The Cervical Barrier Advancement Society (CBAS), officially launched in June 2004, is a new initiative stimulated by an emerging global interest in cervical barriers. CBAS aims to raise the profile of cervical barrier methods both for preventing pregnancy and potentially HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs).  CBAS membership is free and open to all who are interested in joining.  CBAS’s goal is to create an international, professional networking organization including clinical and social science research groups, academic institutions, advocacy groups, trade associations, and pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device companies.

The CBAS website (www.cervicalbarriers.org) is a tool for sharing information with members and with the general public.  The website contains information about cervical barriers, research updates, downloadable materials, and images of cervical barriers.  In addition, CBAS compiles and sends an e-newsletter several times a year.
