The Program for Appropriate Technology in Health (PATH) has developed a new female condom product, the Woman’s Condom, which is currently being tested for efficacy in the United States.
ORIGAMI Female Condom™
Strata Various Product Design, United States
Strata Various Product Design received NIH funding in 2010 to develop the ORIGAMI Female Condom™, a new silicone condom with a unique “no-fumble” method of insertion and showing zero viral permeability in pre-clinical studies. The company will soon be conducting further pre-clinical testing, a user preference study, and a couples acceptability and performance study.
Unapproved female condom products currently available
The products listed here have not undergone efficacy trials nor been approved for contraception or HIV/STI prevention and should not be used for this purpose.
The only female condom product that has been proven safe and effective for preventing pregnancy and HIV/STIs is the FC Female Condom®.
Medtech Health Products, Ltd., India
The Reddy Female Condom was developed by Medtech, Inc. This one-size device is made of latex and uses a soft polyurethane sponge to aid insertion and a firm, flexible outer ring intended to hold it in place during intercourse. It is being marketed under the V Amour brand name in Africa and L’amour in South America. It is also approved for distribution in Brazil, Europe and India.
Natural Sensation, Columbia
The Panty Condom® is a panty with a replaceable pantyliner containing a condom made of synthetic resin. The condom is inserted by the man’s penis, and the panty itself can be reused with another condom for additional acts of intercourse.

The Female Panty Condom is a panty made of biodegradable latex.
Phoenurse™

The Phoenurse™ is made of a dumbbell-shaped polyurethane sheath and comes with an insertion tool, a water-based lubricant, sanitary towels, and disposal bags.
Cupid Female Condom

The Cupid Female Condom is made from natural latex rubber and contains a Polyurethane Foam internal retainer and an octagon-shaped outer ring.
